Penng used to cost R1,950. That bought the Penng 1.0 band and 12 months of membership. Now Penng is a membership, and the band is the low-cost way in.
This post sets the old price next to the new one, and works out what you pay in your first year.
Old vs new, side by side
| Old price | New price | |
|---|---|---|
| Membership | 12 months, only with the band | R89 a month or R890 a year, bought in the app |
| Penng 1.0 band | R1,950, with 12 months of membership | R499, with 3 months of membership. Last 500 bands. Flat R49 shipping |
| Penng 2.0 band | — | R950 pre-order + a free Penng T-shirt, with 3 months of membership. Ships December 2026. Full refund any time before it ships. |
| No band | — | R89 a month in South Africa. US$5 a month outside South Africa |
The old price was one bundle: the Penng 1.0 band with 12 months of membership. Bands ship to South Africa only. Shipping is a flat R49 per order, added at checkout.
What you pay in your first year
These totals are for one person in South Africa, paying monthly once the included months end. Each new total includes the R49 shipping.
- Penng 1.0: R499 for the band, plus R49 shipping, plus 9 months at R89 (R801). That is R1,349 for your first 12 months.
- Penng 2.0 pre-order: R950 for the band, plus R49 shipping, plus 9 months at R89 (R801). That is R1,800 for your first 12 months.
- No band: 12 months at R89. That is R1,068 for your first 12 months.
- The old price: R1,950 for the band and 12 months.
So a first year with Penng 1.0 now costs R601 less than it did. A first year with Penng 2.0 costs R150 less than the old Penng 1.0 price.
If you would rather pay once, membership is also R890 a year after your included months.
Why it is cheaper
There are two reasons, and they are the same ones we gave when Penng 1.0 dropped to R499.
First, Penng 2.0 is coming. We want to clear the last 500 Penng 1.0 bands before it arrives.
Second, Penng is now a membership. The value is in the app: sleep, recovery, training and food, in one place. The band is the low-cost way in.
Nothing is taken away from people who paid the old price. If you paid R1,950 for your band, you keep the months of membership that came with it.
